Doom 3 Monsters
Update August 3rd: All magazine scans and video captures are now replaced! doom3box.jpg (81210 bytes)

June 3rd, 2005
Q:
What is the point of this site?
A: If you've scrolled down here, you'd see by now from above that this site is basically just a small display for the little things I've done for Doom 3, but originally the section below was the main reason to visit. This site was created circa July 31st of 2004. For reference, Doom 3 was released on August 3rd, mere days later. On this site, I collected pictures of every known Doom 3 monster from every source possible and put them in a giant heap here. These included official screenshots from id, blurry screen caps from the short teaser trailers and videos released, and scans from early reviews from the game. I only posted a link to this site on one forum and one small irc channel, and within a couple of days it reached 10,000 visits. On August 1st, the unthinkable happened: stores were breaking the street date for Doom 3. I happened to be lucky enough to grab a copy early and quickly replaced all magazine scans and video captures (Hence the update from 2004 above, although I got lazy and didn't replace the final few until the 3rd). Again, all of this before the game was officially released, so it caught the eyes of many.

So what you are seeing below is a small, semi-obscure, unfinished piece of history among the many events during Doom 3's historic release. As you can see I started a section for items and powerups but never got around to finishing it. Eventually better sites listing all Doom 3 monsters complete with precise summaries on their skills and abilities appeared, thus making this site obsolete. And then Resurrection of Evil was announced and soon released, making the site once again even more dated. So, if you've bothered to read all this rambling, then enjoy this small piece of nostalgia, perhaps take a look at my Doom 3 stuff above, but remember that much of this is quite old, and even though this giant spoiler-worthy section might not mean much now, it probably spoiled the game completely for someone ages ago, and that makes all the difference.
